<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When his beloved beagle is destroyed after a rabid rampage, CB is plunged into such a depression that a literal raincloud starts to follow him around. Suddenly introspective and concerned with the afterlife, he is no longer satisfied with his high school status as a good-looking bully. Writing without hope to a childhood pen pal who has never written back, CB confesses his doubts and fears, and describes his daily interactions with his community: his angst-ridden performance artist sister, aggressive buddy Matt, mean girls Marcy and Tricia, and stoned philosopher Van. When he unexpectedly connects with Beethoven, a childhood friend who had become a target of his group\u2019s homophobic bullying, CB thinks he\u2019s found both a relationship and a means to rebel against his predictable, doormat persona\u2026 but he may have to lose everything to gain peace of mind. Sex, drugs, bullying, mental illness, toxic friendships, and dead dogs. are not the first things which come to mind when we think about the children of Charles Schultz\u2019s iconic comic strip, but Bert V. Royal\u2019s Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead is a genuine “unauthorized continuation” of the \u201cPeanuts\u201d gang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Content Warning: Even though it is comedic, Dog Sees God engages mature topics and explicit language surrounding suicide, bullying, eating disorders, loss, sexuality, substance abuse, and homophobia.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Note: All characters in the show are assumed to be high-school age in appearance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • CB: <\/strong>Male-presenting. The main character of the play. Intelligent, introspective, and depressed, questioning everything in his life including the afterlife, his social status, and his sexuality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Beethoven: <\/strong>Male-presenting. Quiet, lonely, recluse. School outcast and target of Matt\u2019s homophobic bullying who takes solace in his piano. Becomes romantically involved with CB.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • CB’s Sister:<\/strong> Female-presenting. Strong-willed, opinionated, loud. Changes her persona and philosophy on life often.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Van:<\/strong> Male-presenting. Cliched pothead, with a worldview to match, constantly pursuing CB\u2019s SISTER.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Matt: <\/strong>Male-presenting. A jock, pathological germaphobe, sex-obsessed, homophobic, and the school bully. He is also CB\u2019s best friend.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Tricia: <\/strong>Female-presenting. Rude, loud, obnoxious. A party girl who thinks she is both pretty and popular.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Marcy:<\/strong> Female-presenting. Equally rude and obnoxious. A party girl and Tricia’s sidekick.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
